You've survived the fourth trimester. You've mastered the one-handed nappy change. And now you're sat on the sofa, scrolling your phone, wondering: what on earth do I actually do with this baby all day?

If you're based in or around Farnham, you're in luck. There is so much more to do than stare at the walls of your living room. Here are ten of our favourite ways to get out, have fun, and keep your sanity intact.

1. Baby Sensory and Messy Play Classes

We might be biased, but there's a reason sensory classes are so popular. Babies are wired to learn through touch, sound, light, and texture. A structured class gives them all of that in one session, and gives you a reason to leave the house and chat to other adults.

At Tiny Whirlwinds, we run classes for babies from birth right through to three years old, all based in Crondall, just outside Farnham. Whether your little one is six weeks or six months, there's a group that fits.

2. Farnham Park and Gostrey Meadow

Free, easy to access, and beautiful all year round. Farnham Park has wide flat paths that are perfect for prams, and Gostrey Meadow is great for a quick stroll and a sit on a bench while the baby naps. In the summer, the bandstand area is lovely for a picnic.

3. Library Rhyme Time

Farnham Library runs free rhyme time sessions for babies and toddlers. It's relaxed, it's free, and it's a brilliant way to introduce your little one to music and rhythm. Don't worry if they just sit there chewing a board book. That counts as participation.

4. Alice Holt Forest

Just a short drive from Farnham, Alice Holt is one of the best spots in Surrey for a family walk. The paths are mostly buggy-friendly, there's a decent cafe, and in the warmer months, the play trail is brilliant for older babies and toddlers. If you have a sling or carrier, the woodland trails are a dream.

5. Baby Swimming

There are baby swimming classes at pools in Farnham, Aldershot, and Fleet. Getting in the water with your baby is amazing for bonding, and most classes take babies from around 12 weeks old. Check out local pools and providers for timetables.

6. Baby-Friendly Cafes

Sometimes the best activity is just sitting somewhere warm with a coffee while your baby stares at the ceiling fan. Farnham has some lovely independent cafes. Look for ones with space for prams, a relaxed atmosphere, and ideally a changing table. The Spire Church cafe and Birdworld cafe (if you fancy combining it with a trip to see the penguins) are both good shouts.

7. NCT and Health Visitor Groups

If you haven't already connected with your local NCT group or health visitor drop-in, it's worth doing. These groups are great for weighing clinics, feeding support, and meeting other parents who are at exactly the same stage as you. Your health visitor can point you to what's running locally.

8. Birdworld

Yes, it's technically a bird park. But it's also a brilliant morning out with a baby. It's calm, there's lots to look at (babies love watching the flamingos), and the grounds are pushchair-friendly. Pair it with a coffee at the cafe and you've got yourself a proper outing.

9. Soft Play

Once your baby is sitting up and moving, soft play becomes a lifesaver. There are options in Aldershot, Farnborough, and Guildford. It's not the most glamorous morning out, but it's warm, it's safe, and they can crawl around while you drink a lukewarm tea. That's a win.

10. The Rural Life Living Museum in Tilford

A hidden gem just outside Farnham. It's small, it's quirky, and it's a lovely place to wander with a baby in a sling or pram. The outdoor areas are great for toddlers too. Check their website for seasonal events and opening times.

The Honest Truth

Getting out with a baby can feel like a military operation. The packing, the timing around feeds and naps, the inevitable blowout five minutes before you leave. But once you're out? It's almost always worth it. Even if your baby sleeps through the entire thing, you got fresh air and human contact, and that matters.

If you're looking for something regular, structured, and fun for both of you, come and try a class at Tiny Whirlwinds. We run taster sessions so there's no commitment. Just turn up, let your baby explore, and see how it feels.
